Room: Harbour C
Universal Acceptance of All Top-Level Domains is an ongoing effort by ICANN. The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about the diversity of top-level domains and identify ways to minimize compatibility issues that prevent them from working correctly. Some software vendors, web site developers, and other implementers inadvertently restrict what they allow as a valid domain name in their applications. These limitations are a concern as the Domain Name System expands with the introduction of new top-level domains, including non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Cyrillic.
The session is open to everyone, and is designed to engage potential new TLD operators in an active discussion on what can be done in each geographical region to promote universal acceptance.
Please join us to talk about this important topic. When organizations include valid domain names in their applications, it promotes the Internet's growth and stability, as well as consumer choice and market competition on-line.
