Work on the Trademark Clearinghouse Continues

Now, we want to hear from you!

On Monday, 24 September, we posted for public comment documents related to the TMCH. They include two implementation documents for a 45-day public comment period:

  1. Implementing the Proof of Use Verification [PDF, 176 KB] – Describes the procedures to be used by the Clearinghouse to verify "proof of use" associated with a trademark where requested.
  2. Implementing the Matching Rules [PDF, 194 KB] – Provides the detailed implementation of how a "match" is determined between a trademark record and a domain name, for purposes of the sunrise and claims processes.

Also posted for review is the current draft version of the Trademark Clearinghouse Requirements [PDF, 1.25 MB]. For more information review the full announcement or check out the TMCH page on the Microsite for more information.

There are also two TMCH sessions planned in Toronto.

Monday, October 15th: Working Session: Sunrise and Trademark Claims Implementation – This will be a working session to review and discuss technical implementation details of the sunrise and trademark claims services. | TIME: 17:00 – 18:30 | ROOM: Metro Centre

Wednesday, October 17th: Trademark Clearinghouse Implementation – This session will provide an update on the status of the Trademark Clearinghouse implementation. This will be a two-part session, with the first part focused on the procedures for submission of trademark data into the Clearinghouse, and the second on the implementation of Sunrise and Trademark Claims processes during the startup phases of new gTLD registries. | TIME: 09:00 – 10:30 | ROOM: Metro Centre

Application Comment Deadline Passed

The expanded 105-day application comments period closed 26 September at 23:59 UTC. As long as you posted your comments to the forum before then, your comments will be forwarded to the indicated evaluation panel.

If you didn't get your comment in before the 26th, you still can submit comments until the end of the round and they will be available in the forum for viewing, but not forwarded to the evaluation panels.

Clarifying Questions Pilot Completed

The CQ Pilot closed Monday, 17 September at 23:59 UTC. A big "thank you" to those who participated in the pilot. The information we gathered will allow us to better refine the official CQs that will be issued through TAS. This pilot also will help us identify areas where additional information can be provided to help applicants prepare for the official CQs.

Change Request Stats

As of the week of 24 Sept, there have been 117 application changes submitted since the close of the application window:

  • 18 relating to the application's profile (Questions 1-12)
  • 21 relating to the primary/secondary contacts
  • 4 relating to the applied-for string
  • 74 relating to application questions 14-50
