Pre-Delegation Testing: Distributed DNS and Preparation Resources Update

ICANN is changing its approach to the DNS testing component of Pre-Delegation Testing as a result of ongoing community feedback. The anycast instance testing approach will no longer be performed. It will be replaced by Distributed DNS Testing, which only assesses the prospective registries' public-facing DNS service. This is achieved by utilizing a higher number of globally distributed test nodes.

Pre-Delegation Test Preparation Resources have been revised to reflect the new approach, and minor edits have been made, as well. Please review the PDT Materials Update Guide v.1.7 to determine which documents have been updated.

The new approach will be incorporated into the PDT Beta Test program beginning with the 17 June 2013 test appointments. Respective participants should prepare accordingly.

The Beta Test period will continue according to the current schedule and ICANN will modify the PDT specifications, as necessary, prior to transitioning to production PDT, currently targeted for early July.
